ETA: The JumpFromPaper event is over already, since Fab.com is a flash sale site. But they often have repeat sales, and they sling all sorts of nerd-friendly wares such as vinyl toys, art prints, and pop culture apparel. Not everything’s a deal, price-wise, but every now and then they have some gems that I’ve been all too pleased to snatch up!

Museum Plans to Burn 1,000 Art Works to Protest Cuts
Various news services are reporting that a museum in Italy is waging an “art war” in protest of funding cuts and they’ve started burning 1,000 artworks.
Marina Abramović - The Artist Is Present: This emotional exhibit, held in the Museum of Modern Art for three months in early spring 2010, featured Abramović sitting in a chair for the entirety of the day at the museum. Visitors were encouraged to sit silently across from the artist for a duration of their choosing, becoming participants in the artwork. Abramović, acting as an “emotional mirror” to the patrons, silently stared at them, often inducing deeply profound and heartbreaking reactions.
